The Wisdom of Clutter - Swimming in a Sea of Entropy and Information (November 2025)

In the "anti-fragility" presented by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, entropy is a symbol of uncertainty, and the paradox that the more order is enforced, the more fragile the world becomes is central. Entropy in information theory refers to the average uncertainty, or amount of information, and the more this decreases, the less room there is for learning. Societies and life evolve only when they contain this uncertainty, and a state without fluctuation is synonymous with death. It is also in keeping with the "law of necessary diversity" that cybernetics indicates, in order to control changes in the environment, we must have an equal or greater diversity of responses. A society that eliminates fluctuations creates a fragile structure that cannot withstand the blow of the environment. In living organisms and artificial systems, there is a phenomenon of stochastic resonance in which moderate noise enhances performance, and in living organisms, low doses of stress (hormesis) lead to toler
ance and growth. Taleb explains that these small instabilities are the source of sustained strength. Do not impose order, but take advantage of disorder. This is the "wisdom of anti-fragility" to continue learning and evolving without fear of entropy.
