Too much homogenization in the pursuit of stability can make a system more fragile. Taleb explains that strength is fostered not by eliminating fluctuations and noise, but rather by taking advantage of them. Like muscles and immunity, growth and adaptation are encouraged by experiencing moderate stress and small fluctuations. This idea can be applied to society, the economy, and organizations. By distributing projects and allowing small failures, learning progresses while reducing the risk of total collapse. Conversely, a system that suppresses fluctuations and concentrates on one area is vulnerable to unexpected shocks. Noise is not just an error, but also a catalyst for the system to self-adjust and evolve. What is important is not to aim for perfect stability, but to create a structure that embraces small instabilities, absorbs them, and makes use of them. True stability is a dynamic state that "maintains equilibrium amidst fluctuations," and the wisdom of making fluctuati
ons one's friend is at the heart of anti-fragility.
