According to a report recently released jointly by the World Health Organization and the International Children's Fund, of the world's population of approximately 6.5 billion, about 1.1 billion people do not have access to water through water supply, wells, or other process means, and about 2.4 billion people have problems when it comes to sewer facilities. Only 35% of Asia and 14% of Latin America treat wastewater and sewage, and almost none of Africa. Deaths due to sewage reach 2.2 million people.
