In Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, demonstration research was conducted to leverage the area’s abundant sunlight and ensure the stable connection of large-scale solar power generation to the power grid. The uploaded materials also introduce the demonstration project for large-scale solar power generation systems in Hokuto City. This project was commissioned by NEDO and carried out from fiscal year 2006 through fiscal year 2010, led primarily by Hokuto City and NTT Facilities. Solar power generation facilities with a capacity of approximately 1.8 megawatts were installed in areas such as the Natsu-Aki district of Nagasaka Town, Hokuto City, to verify technologies for suppressing voltage and output fluctuations when a large number of solar panels are connected to the power grid. In particular, the project focused on developing large-scale power conditioners with grid stabilization functions, comparing the performance of various types of solar cells, and evaluating installation methods and environmental impact. The Hokuto Site was a pioneering facility that verified technical challenges in the field before large-scale solar power generation became widely adopted. The demonstration project concluded in March 2011, and in April of the same year, the facility was transferred to Hokuto City, which has continued to operate it as the Hokuto Site Solar Power Plant.
