Shunputei Eishie VII--Narrative bridge from the Showa to the Heisei era (introduced in 1957-2022)

After his master's death, he moved to Shozo (Hikoroku) Hayashiya VIII and took the name "Hayashiya Edaji." In 1960, he was promoted to Nitsume, and in 1973, he was promoted to Shinuchi. In terms of historical background, the 1950s was the time when Eieie began his career as a yose performer, when television began to spread and the yose culture gradually began to change from the core of popular entertainment. Eiee passed through the waves of this media change while maintaining his pride as a "storyteller" of rakugo and other forms of entertainment. As the world of rakugo moved from the Showa to the Heisei era, and as the rakugo world sought to coexist with young talent, television, and variety, Master Eie's "attitude to adapt to change while preserving tradition" was evident in his artistic career.

When he passed away at the age of 83, it was reported that he marked the end of an era in the culture and entertainment world. ([okinawatimes.co.jp](https://www.okinawatimes.co.jp/articles/-/911989?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

Master Eie's artistic career and storytelling embodied the duality of "tradition" and "change" that the Showa era of popular entertainment embraced, and he was a pioneer of a path in the art of storytelling called Rakugo.
