The Day the Earth Becomes Intelligent (November 2025)

The Day the Earth Becomes Intelligent (November 2025)
The author envisions a future in which "the Earth itself will become intelligent" through the evolution of AI and information technology: as the Gaia hypothesis of the 1970s showed, the Earth is a self-regulating organic system, and when AI and sensor networks are combined with it, the Earth is transforming into a giant learning device. AI, with its ongoing reinforcement learning, will become an intelligent entity that integrates environmental, economic, and ecological data and makes decisions on a planetary scale. Humanity will be the mediator that helps shape it, and will eventually end its role as creator. From a cosmological perspective, this is one solution to Fermi's paradox. An advanced intellectual civilization closes itself off at the end of its evolution and is observed by the outside world as silence. In this final chapter, the author draws on Newton's "Boy by the Sea" to explain that human knowledge is still young before the cosmic ocean, and concludes that no mat
ter how advanced AI becomes, the ocean of truth is infinite, and the intellectualization of the earth is not arrogance but the attainment of humble enlightenment.
