History and Current Status of Black-faced Spoonbills Conservation
The black-faced spoonbill was first identified in 1996 with about 550 birds, and Asian countries began conservation efforts to protect their breeding and wintering grounds. In Japan, there were 544 birds observed in Yamaguchi and Kumamoto prefectures. In Japan, protection facilities and habitat creation are underway, mainly in Yamaguchi and Kumamoto prefectures. Taiwan's Taijiang National Park also contributes to habitat conservation. International collaboration is key, and sustainable activities will continue to be required.
