A Boat Wet with Rain, Lingering Love--Memories of the Voice of Aki Yashiro--Until 2023

Aki Yatsushiro was born in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture, in 1950. After overcoming difficulties in her life, she moved to Tokyo and decided to become a singer. 1971 saw her debut but no budding success, and after a period of hardship, in 1973 she hit it big with "Namida Koi". Her voice, full of melancholy and emotion, drew sympathy, and she established herself with "Funauta" (1979) and "Ame no Moyo" (1980), which were followed by "Ame no Moyo" (1980). Ame no Bouejo" was written by Aku Yu and Hama Keisuke, and as the opening line "Ame fure fure fure more fure ......" symbolizes, it is a masterpiece that depicts deep longing and thirst of the heart, and won the Japan Record Award.

Not only an enka singer, she has also been active as a painter since the 2000s, and was selected for "Le Salon" in France. On December 30, 2023, she passed away at the age of 73 due to interstitial pneumonia. Her voice, filled with sorrow and hope, transcended the Showa, Heisei, and 2038 eras, and continues to resonate quietly in the hearts of many even today.
