**History and current status of apple pomace recycling in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture: 1999-2020s**.
In 1999, Dainou in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, began composting apple dregs from its fruit juice factory by mixing them with coffee grounds and rice bran for use on local farms; in 2020, JA Aoren developed a technology to dry apple dregs to produce bioplastics. technology and in 2024 live stock feed mixed with coffee grounds.
