**Okayama Prefecture’s Eco-Town Plan** - April 2004

**Okayama Prefecture’s Eco-Town Plan** - April 2004 Okayama Prefecture’s Eco-Town Plan was formulated with the aim of promoting the recycling of local resources and the development of environmental businesses. The plan seeks to establish "mini-ecotowns" throughout the prefecture that leverage the unique characteristics of each region, with the goal of utilizing renewable energy and recycled resources. At the central Mizushima Industrial Complex, research is underway on industrial waste treatment and resource recovery technologies, and concrete initiatives are being implemented, such as the carbonization of wood-based waste and the recycling of used aerosol cans. This plan aims to achieve both the revitalization of the local economy and environmental protection, and is expected to have a ripple effect on other regions.
