### Summary of Waste Management - Kagawa Prefecture In 2007, Ikeda Construction Co., Ltd. in Kagawa Prefecture developed a technology to solidify and improve dredged sediment generated at construction sites. Thanks to this technology, approximately 10,000 tons of sediment per year were reused as construction materials, such as subgrade materials, resulting in a cost reduction of about 30% and a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. In the 2010s, the scope of the technology expanded, with approximately 12,000 tons of dredged soil being reused annually and widely utilized in both public and private construction projects. In the 2020s, processing efficiency is expected to improve further through the introduction of modified materials and dredgers, with the annual recycling volume projected to increase to 15,000 tons. This initiative has garnered nationwide attention as a model case for local recycling and is expected to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
