The Flower Blossoms at Night - Memories of the Four Heavenly Kings of Yokohama Gurentai in the Latter Half of the Showa 30's

In the late 1960s, there were four men who made a name for themselves in the back alleys of Isesagicho and Kannai in the port city of Yokohama. They were Moroccan Tatsu, Yoshito Inoue, Kingo Yoshinaga, and Kiichiro Hayashi, known as the "Four Heavenly Kings of Yokohama Gurentai. They were not mere delinquents, but were chivalrous individuals who staked their lives on loyalty, humanity, and "making things right. Moroccan Tatsu was a fierce fighter who led the fight, but also had the kindness to feed stray cats, and Inoue Kihito was a calm negotiator who settled disputes without bloodshed. Known as "Kingo of Kannai," Yoshinaga Kingo was a man of fists who legend has it that he defeated ten enemies single-handedly. Kiichiro Hayashi was a skillful man who quietly conquered his enemies without words, and in later years is said to have turned into a Japanese confectioner. Each of these men, with their rough but dignified aesthetics, vividly colored the nights of Yokohama. Their spi
rits still live on in the memories of the city.
