In April 2000, the Ministry of the Container Packaging Recycling Act has been summarized to estimate the expected amount of waste plastic containers and packaging to be approximately 120,000 tons. The amount that is being re-commercialized now is 2-3 million tons a year. The estimated amount of potential in fiscal 2000 is about half that of the blast furnace, but in some areas where blast furnaces are not available, plastic raw materials, ammonia and other chemical ingredients are promising.
