Environmental Problems in the Yellow Sea - Summary

Environmental Problems in the Yellow Sea - Summary

Since 2004, the Yellow Sea has experienced an influx of waste and industrial wastewater due to coastal urbanization and population growth in China and Korea, resulting in a decline in fishery resources and a serious loss of biodiversity. In the 2010s, the introduction of ICZM (Integrated Coastal Zone Management) led to the expansion of marine protected areas in China and the tightening of industrial waste regulations in Korea. China's "Yangtze River Delta Environmental Protection Project" and Korea's "Clean Ocean Plan" are underway with the aim of reducing pollution. However, broad-based cooperation, technological innovation, and increased community awareness remain challenges for the future.
