History and Current Status of ESCO Projects in Mongolia
In Mongolia, an ESCO project to replace coal boilers with high-efficiency boilers was approved in Ulaanbaatar in 2007, achieving an annual reduction of approximately 142178 tons of CO₂. The project was supported by Mitsubishi UFJ Securities of Japan, and a local company was in charge of implementation. in the 2020s, Saisan Corporation introduced LP gas boilers at its beverage factory, which is expected to reduce approximately 4,783 tons of CO₂ per year, and other ESCO projects are further developing. In addition, through the bilateral credit system, the Japanese government is supporting the introduction of low-carbon technologies in Mongolia, contributing to fuel conversion and greenhouse gas reduction. The country will continue to be required to overcome challenges and provide sustainable energy supply.
