Yukiyo Juju - Actress who colored the Showa and Heisei eras with her motherly and compassionate nature (1942-)

Sachiyo Juju was born in 1942 in Shibuya, Tokyo. After modeling in high school, she became an actress, and in the 1960s she appeared in Shochiku films, attracting attention with her innocent and calm beauty. Although she was initially regarded as a graceful young actress, she showed a solid presence by playing women with a strong core. In the mid-1970s, she made her breakthrough in TV dramas, giving a passionate performance as Momoe Yamaguchi's mother in "Akai Giwaku" (Red Suspicion) in 1975. Her maternal love and anguish drew sympathy, and she became a social phenomenon. In 1987, she played the role of Hoshunin, the mother of Date Masamune, in the historical drama "Dokuganryu Masamune," which recorded an average viewer rating of 39.7%. She expanded her range of roles by taking on historical dramas such as the following "Kasuga Bunkachi". On stage, she also tackled Shakespearean and contemporary plays, and also made her presence felt in narration and writing. While her contem
poraries Yoko Yamamoto and Shima Iwashita embodied urban intelligence, Juju played a motherly and humane woman who was close to many families. Along with Sayuri Yoshinaga and Keiko Matsuzaka, she is still remembered as one of the leading actresses of the Showa and Heisei eras.
