## Environment Creating a town that spins the future: Kanazawa Recycle Town Concept Summer 2025
Under the clear skies of Kanazawa, a new breath of life is sprouting, while retaining the scent of former industries. On August 19, 2025, Kaiho Sangyo, an auto dismantling company, and Tau, a company that buys and resells damaged vehicles, signed a partnership agreement and launched an initiative aimed at building the first recycling town in Hokuriku. This plan is more than just a business partnership; it represents a new model for a recycling-oriented society based on the premise that vehicles damaged in accidents or by flooding, etc., will be recycled as resources rather than as waste.
Kaiho Sangyo's disassembly technology is supported by advanced recycling engineering that safely and efficiently separates metal parts, plastics, and electronic components. Metal scrap is melted and refined into new products, and plastics are recycled through cleaning and material recycling. Precious metals and rare metals are extracted from electronic components and returned to society as essential materials for next-generation industries such as semiconductors and batteries. This system is not limited to mere resource recovery, but extends to collection events and educational activities in cooperation with local municipalities, encouraging the spread of recycling awareness among local residents.
This concept is not limited to Kanazawa, but is also connected to the network of recycling towns that Tau has already developed in Akita and Saitama, expanding the framework for sharing experiences and technologies in each region. This will enable the results and issues in each region to be utilized across the board, and will make it possible to build a more advanced and efficient recycling system. This project, based on automobile recycling, is also an environmental technology directly related to carbon neutrality, reducing carbon dioxide emissions from incineration and environmental pollution from disposal, and also includes the introduction of traceability technology through automatic parts identification and digital management using AI. The recycling system is evolving as a futuristic recycling model that combines efficiency and environmental preservation.
The Recycle Town concept that has sprouted in Kanazawa is more than just an initiative to convert industrial waste into resources; it is a bridge to a sustainable future that combines technological innovation and a shift in social consciousness.
