The Colors of Superintelligence - Speed, Aggregation, and Quality Interweave the Horizons of Knowledge (2025)
Superintelligence is a concept that refers not to mere high-speed computation or mass-processing capabilities, but to a multifaceted intelligence that far surpasses that of humans. Bostrom describes its characteristics in three categories: speed-type, collective, and qualitative superintelligence. The speed type is depicted as an entity with extremely high thinking speed that produces vast intellectual achievements in a short period of time. The collective type is a form in which many intelligences work together and have problem-solving abilities that transcend society and nations, and functions like a networked brain. Qualitative superintelligence has a mode of thinking that is incomprehensible to humans and allows for insights that transcend existing intellectual frameworks. These diversities demonstrate that superintelligence cannot be captured on a simple scale. Furthermore, a view has emerged that reinterprets human society as a whole as "collective superintelligence," a
nd the debate continues to shake up the boundaries between machines and humans. The more multifaceted the definition, the wider the range of expectations and risks, and this is an essential perspective in considering the image of future intelligence.
