Twist Mill" - the future of scrap wood - August 2002
The Twist Mill, developed by Uyenotex, is an innovative crushing and sorting device that enables integrated processing of waste materials. It is characterized by its ability to process mixed waste materials such as wood, plastic, and metal all at once, and by integrating sorting, crushing, and separation, it makes the recycling process more efficient and reduces costs. Conventional processing methods require manual sorting, but the "Twist Mill" greatly reduces the time and labor required for this process and enables the processing of large volumes of waste materials.
The technical key to this equipment is the use of a rotor with a unique twisted structure that can properly crush and separate different materials while rotating. For example, the system automatically collects different materials from construction waste mixed with wood and metal by crushing and magnetically sorting them at the same time. This technology eliminates the need for manual sorting at industrial waste disposal sites and allows for faster processing.
The Twist Mill uses mortar-shaped discs to compress and grind the waste, significantly reducing the volume of the waste, thereby contributing to the efficiency and cost reduction of the recycling process. Furthermore, by increasing the porosity and water absorbency of the waste material after treatment, the mill facilitates material recycling such as composting and contributes to a shorter fermentation period. This technology is expected to contribute to the construction of a sustainable resource recycling system by simultaneously promoting the reduction and reuse of waste materials.
Uyenotechs is now working to further develop this technology and to develop models that can handle an even wider variety of waste materials. In particular, the company is considering applying this technology to waste materials with complex structures, such as electronic devices and automobile parts, and further advances in recycling technology are expected.
