Hidden Lynx and the Dark Side of Chinese Cyber Warfare (2009-)

Hidden Lynx and the Dark Side of Chinese Cyber Warfare (2009-)

In 2009, Hidden Lynx, a mysterious attack group from China, were mercenaries lurking in the shadows of nations. They penetrate diverse targets, including military, government, financial, and medical, and hint that there is a "client" behind them. For example, in the case of the hijacking of Bit9's authentication mechanism, the attack was disguised as legitimate software, causing international astonishment. Furthermore, its involvement in Operation Aurora and Operation Elderhood was also pointed out, and Google and other well-known companies were affected. The attacks used undisclosed weaknesses and sophisticated techniques to infect users via external sites. While their technology was comparable to that of the military, they ostensibly posed as a private company and absorbed personnel from university competitions, retired engineers, and even young people who had been exposed in the past. Their dexterity in crossing the border between legal and illegal activities, and their ab
ility to slip between China's domestic IT strategy and its policy of nurturing the private sector, is a shadowy figure wandering the battlefield of our times. They are the Hidden Lynx, those who have no government name, yet possess power beyond the government's.
