Jun Hoshikawa has been involved in environmental issues for more than 30 years through his activities as a writer, and is particularly deeply involved in the environmental administration of local governments. He believes that both superior environmental technology and a participatory consensus building process among local residents are essential for realizing a sustainable society. As chairman of the Yakucho Environmental Council, Mr. Hoshikawa addressed local waste disposal issues and led discussions aimed at realizing zero-emission type disposal. Mr. Hoshikawa's vision is to promote environmental improvement by utilizing the wisdom of nature and respecting the uniqueness of the local community, while also contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.
