The World as One Boat: The Unification of Global Civilizations and Its Ripples (2020s)
As we enter the 21st century, humanity is becoming more globally integrated than ever before in terms of technology, medicine, communications, and institutions. People's diets and economic activities are similar across borders, and hundreds of millions of immigrants have become members of a "single civilization. However, this integration has not bridged the gap between cultures and values, but rather has created new fissures within the civilization. Economic disparity, anti-immigration, and social friction are no longer conflicts between countries, but rather contradictions within the same civilization. Harari warns of the possibility of an "inner rupture" brought about by the homogenization of civilizations, and points out that the challenge of the 21st century is not only to build common institutions but also to maintain inclusion and diversity. Integration is not just a fusion, but a test that will force the redesign of a new order.
