Food Waste Disposal Technology Goes to Sweden, an Environmentally Advanced Country - July 1995
Marshall Plant, an environmental company in Bungotakada City, Oita Prefecture, has developed an advanced technology that converts 10 tons of food waste into fertilizer in less than 48 hours, and has begun exporting the technology to Sweden, an environmentally conscious country. Originally headquartered in Osaka, the company relocated to Bungotakada City with the goal of providing community-based solutions to environmental problems. Special equipment utilizing aerobic and anaerobic bacteria efficiently ferments and decomposes food waste to quickly produce compost. The fertilizer is expected to promote its use on farmland and contribute to local governments and the agricultural sector. This technology is attracting attention both domestically and internationally as it contributes to the recycling of large volumes of waste and the creation of a recycling-oriented society. The company's corporate philosophy emphasizes the resolution of local environmental issues, and is expected
to spread further.
