The Runaway of Knowledge and the Silence of Intuition The Disconnection and Recovery of Intelligence and Intuition 1900-2025

Bergson warned of the disconnection from "intuition" during the development of the human intellect. The intellect analyzes and divides the world and captures the order of matter, but it thus loses its ability to capture the fluid and total, such as time and life. Intuition, on the other hand, is a sensitivity that connects with the depths of life and understands the rhythm of life from within. However, in the rationalism of the post-modern era, intuition has been eliminated as irrational, and modern man has come to rely on an intellect that is biased toward efficiency and logic. As a result, they have lost sight of the complexity of the world and the depth of humanity, resulting in self-alienation and social fragmentation. Bergson argues that we should regenerate the intellect itself and restore living thought by reconnecting the intellect to intuition. The cycle of intuition and intellect, he argued, is the intellectual balance that should exist for human beings.
