The Night the Black Diamond Sinks - The Futaba-kai and Ono-gumi Shadows Stir in the City of Coal Mines
Location: The tatami room of the ryotei restaurant "Tsuruya" in the coal mining town of Chikuho.
Characters:
- Iwasaki (Futabakai executive) ... an old-timer in charge of interests in Chikuho.
- Tanimura (Ono-gumi executive) ... The boss of an emerging power with ties to Tokyo.
- Gonzo (mediator) ... A local figure.
Gonzo (shaking his boar's mouth)
Gonzo (shaking his booze cup): "You guys, calm down a little bit. We're here to drink, there's no need to waste blood."
Iwasaki (crossing his arms).
I don't mean to shed blood, but aren't you guys getting carried away these days? The work in the mines has always been ours. We don't want you messing with us.
Tanimura (with a cigarette in his mouth)
"It's a problem, isn't it? ...... The coal miners are saying there's no future for them with your way of doing things, you know? We're making a new road for them.
Iwasaki (with a low laugh)
"A 'new road'?" ...... Are you pretending to be a boss by imitating a hikikata? We who built this town should be in charge of the coal mines.
Tanimura (shrugging his shoulders)
"Then think about how long that town will last. The Tokyo bosses are going to be working hard on the ground from now on, don't you think?
Gonzo (sighing)
"Damn it, neither one of you is willing to give up ......."
Iwasaki (standing up)
"Well, that's all for today. But, Tanimura, make sure that young guy over there doesn't do anything unnecessary, okay?
Tanimura (chuckling)
"Don't use 'dynamite' in the wrong way, will you?"
The night in Chikuho went down with another spark.
