Metal Recycling Facility in Naoshima Town, Kagawa Prefecture - May 2004
Mitsubishi Materials Naoshima Smelter & Refinery is the core of the Eco-Town project in Naoshima Town, Kagawa Prefecture, and processes 400,000 tons of copper ore and urban mine waste annually, recovering 100 tons of gold, 1200 tons of silver, and 380000 tons of copper. 160000 tons of waste electronic circuit boards are recycled annually in the 2020s, and 5000 tons of shredder dust is incinerated to generate electricity. The company plans to expand its processing capacity to 240,000 tons by 2030. In collaboration with facilities in Hiroshima, Okayama, and Ehime, we are working to recycle waste and reduce the environmental impact of the entire region. The Naoshima Smelter & Refinery aims to contribute to the local economy and realize a sustainable resource-recycling society.
