Battlefield of Light Speed, Defeat of Silence--Cyber Warfare and DDoS Breakdown (2010-2024)

Battlefield of Light Speed, Defeat of Silence--Cyber Warfare and DDoS Breakdown (2010-2024)

In modern warfare, there are no gunshots, no earthquakes. Light-speed information penetrates the enemy and silences urban functions in seconds - that is cyber warfare, starting with Stuxnet's covert destruction of Iran's nuclear facilities in 2010, followed by the Mirai botnet in 2016, which shut down the entire U.S. internet infrastructure in shut down in an instant. At the heart of these attacks is DDoS (distributed denial of service).

DDoS is an attack that paralyzes a target server or network by bombarding it with simultaneous communications from hijacked devices around the world. Disguised as legitimate access, it saturates bandwidth and silences the system in seconds. The attack is invisible, and when it stops, the cause is unknown.

Defenders are always on the back foot, and damage is only discovered after it has occurred. In this "invisible war," the slowest response is the human reaction, and the fastest is the coming of silence. Both nations and corporations are already on this battlefield. The war has already begun.
