Biodegradable Plastic "New Wood" - April 2003

Biodegradable Plastic "New Wood" - April 2003

New Wood, a biodegradable plastic developed by Matsuisha in Ishikawa, Japan, is an environmental material made from a mixture of wood flour and biodegradable resin. Made from waste wood flour, New Wood decomposes 30% faster than ordinary plastics, reducing environmental impact when disposed of in landfills or in the natural environment. This material is used by Toyota and Honda for automobile interior parts, with an expected annual production of 5,000 tons.

It is also being considered for use in household and gardening tools, particularly as kitchenware and gardening tools. New Wood" is also recognized as a material that contributes to the fight against global warming, as it reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 20% during production. While reducing environmental impact, it is also competitive in terms of cost and recyclable.
