Assumed Title: Japan's Lead in Lead-Free Technology - June 2004
Japanese electrical and electronic equipment manufacturers have been actively developing lead-free technologies since the 1990s to reduce their environmental impact, and have maintained an international lead. Typical technologies include "tin-silver-copper" alloys, and although there are issues with their high melting point and cost, new alloys are being developed by Nihon Genma and Nihon Superior. This further strengthens the competitiveness of Japanese companies in the international market.
