### History and Current Status of Waste Power Generation Facilities in Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture (November 1997 - 2020s)
The waste-to-energy facility in Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture, started trial operation in November 1997 and attracted attention as an advanced waste-to-energy facility with a power generation capacity of 2,400 kilowatts per day. In the 2020s, the "Fifth Kanuma City Environmental Basic Plan" was adopted to promote the 3Rs and proper waste sorting while aiming to realize a decarbonized society. The city is working to create a sustainable community while addressing issues of changes in the lives of citizens and cost reduction.
