Song Traveler Weaving Stories: The World of Masashi Sada 1970s - Present Day

Sada Masashi was born in Nagasaki City in 1952, and made his debut in 1973 as the folk duo "Grape", gaining attention with "Seirei Nagashi" and "Mukenzaka". After the breakup of the duo, Masashi began his solo career in 1976, releasing such songs as "Ameyadori," "Kanpaku Sengen," "Sonnet of a Clown," and "Autumn Cherry Blossoms. The song "Kanpaku Sengen" humorously depicts a unique vow made by a husband to his wife, and has received a great response as a masterpiece that combines the views of men and women and a humanistic sentiment. Seirei Nagashi" sings of nostalgia and farewell against the backdrop of a hometown event, while "Autumn Cherry Blossoms" has been sung by many singers as a delicate depiction of a mother's love for her daughter-in-law. Sonnet of a Clown" is another poetic piece that simultaneously depicts human sorrow and tenderness.

Her contemporaries Yosui Inoue is urban and literary, Takuro Yoshida is free and has a strong message, Miyuki Nakajima has deep human insight, and Chiharu Matsuyama is characterized by her powerful voice and Hokkaido-like scale. Among them, Sada has built a unique world based on narrative and description of scenes. Since the 1980s, she has also written successful novels and essays, including "Kaitatsu," "Bizan," and "The Lion Standing in the Wind," which have been made into films. He is also a strong believer in peace, and has continued to give charity and peace concerts, and has been on a journey to bring stories to people's hearts for more than half a century.
