Ginza of Blood: Kobayashi Kai and the Rikidozan Stabbing Incident: Memories from 1963 to 2013

Katsushi Murata (b. 1939 - d. 2013) was a gangster from Tsukiji, Tokyo, who was an executive of the Sumiyoshi-kai affiliated Kobayashi Kai and is known for stabbing professional wrestler Rikidozan in 1963. An argument at an Akasaka nightclub led to the stabbing, and Rikidozan, who was stabbed in the abdomen, returned home once but died on December 15 after suffering septicemia from peritonitis. Murata was sentenced to seven years in prison for manslaughter and continued to be active in the Kobayashi Kai. He was a heavyweight under Kobayashi Kusufu, the president of the Kobayashi Kai, and also served as secretary general and chairman of the board. In his later years, he suffered from diabetes and died at the age of 74. His daughter was Hikaru Shinohara, a female mixed martial artist. In 2022, Shukan Shincho reexamined the incident, and the testimonies of those involved are being transmitted on YouTube.
