Illegal Dumping of Industrial Waste on the Aomori/Iwate Border
The illegal dumping of industrial waste at the border between Shichinohe Town, Aomori Prefecture and Ichinohe Town, Iwate Prefecture, totaling 876,000 cubic meters, is one of the largest incidents in Japan. 1,150,000 tons were dumped on the Aomori Prefecture side and 350,000 tons on the Iwate Prefecture side, including construction waste materials and sludge.
