Shinjuku Underground: A cultural center from the late 1960s to the early 1970s

It's Shinjuku Underground! From the late 1960s to the early 1970s, this was a cultural center for avant-garde films and art! Films by Kon Ichikawa, Nagisa Oshima, Masahiro Shinoda, and others were screened here, attracting many young people and artists. Every time an anti-establishment film was shown, there were arguments and clashes, and even small-scale disturbances outside! One film by Nagisa Oshima, in particular, even started an argument among the audience after the screening. This place was symbolic of the social tensions of the time as well as the nurturing of a new culture! It is a heart-warming story!
