Port of Regeneration Noshiro, Akita Prefecture - A Center for Weaving a Future from Waste
Designated as a comprehensive venous logistics hub port in 2007, the Port of Noshiro in Akita Prefecture has developed as a hub for the reuse of waste and resources. In cooperation with local companies, the company has improved its recycling technology for precious and rare metals. 2010s e-waste processing exceeded 30,000 tons per year, and the recycling rate increased by 25%. 2020s facilities capable of processing approximately 50,000 tons of waste per year will be in operation. Achieved a rare metal recovery rate of over 30% through technological innovation at Noshiro Metal Recycling Co. High-temperature decomposition technology was introduced for plastic waste, recycling 2,500 tons per year. Internationally, approximately 20,000 tons of scrap metal is exported annually, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.
