Outline of the Tachikawa Township's Township Power Saving Station Project
Launched in 2003, the "Townspeople's Electricity Saving Station Project" in Tachikawa Town, Yamagata Prefecture, contributes to energy conservation and reduction of environmental impact throughout the community. 300 households participated in the project in 2023, reducing annual electricity consumption to about 400,000 kWh and CO₂ emissions by about 50 tons per year. The use of "hoochan tickets" has been expanded in cooperation with local businesses, eco-shops, and recycling centers, and the local economy has also been revitalized. the project is expected to develop as a regional model, with the goal of having all households participate by 2025.
